Aquarium
Vanity Aquarium
Private Residence, Upper West Side, NYC
This bathroom vanity has an aquarium built into it, running beneath the faucets between two sinks.
Looking down, you see fish, rockwork and plants under the counter, lit from within and framed by the polished stone top. It turns an everyday room into a moment of surprise, and every guest who uses it remembers it.
The installation is a good example of what custom work makes possible: an aquarium designed around how a space is actually used, in a place no off-the-shelf tank could go.
