White-Paneled Family Room Reef
Private Residence, Brooklyn, NY
A reef aquarium set into the white raised-panel wainscoting of a family room in a Brooklyn home.
The tank runs as a long, lit band within the paneling above a sectional sofa, so the reef sits inside the room's millwork rather than in front of it. It passes through the wall to the hallway behind, where it sits above built-in white cabinetry and can be seen from both spaces.
The last images show the installation: the tank set into the paneled opening over the cabinetry, and live rock being prepared for the aquascape.
